I was 21… that’s me above the drummers head.
He was so hard to get to talk too as he was SO heavily guarded. Finally I get an invite to his private party (where he would feel safe as he’d feel no outsiders would be their). I couldn’t wait to talk to him thinking… “Hmmm what will I say that he hasn’t heard a million times before…love your movies??? Great show???? Great meeting you???? My mind reeled wanting to be meaningful! Alas, the double doors burst open – I look up expecting to see Elvis… instead, a very large necked body guard yells out!, “Elvis doesn’t feel like Havin’ a f#*^ing party, everybody go home!” Sheesh, I was shocked. Such language and attitude in what I assumed was an grown up world… To save grace in my mind and for Elvis, I’m going with…”Those weren’t Elvis’s exact words and sentiment but that of a body guard tired of his gig feeling like he’s herding cattle.”

Okay just one of a few stories around him at that time. God rest his soul.
